Château des Jacques Côte du Py Morgon 2020, Beaujolais, Burgundy, France

Château des Jacques was purchased by Maison Louis Jadot in 1996, and is today a beautiful property situated next to the famous vineyards of the Cru Moulin-A-Vent. Two unique parcels, or Clos, compose the Morgon vineyards; the best fruit from each Clos is vinified and aged separately in oak barrels for 12 months. Exclusively planted with the Gamay grape, the 8.4 acres of the Côte du Py estate vineyard spread out over an old volcano with a soil composed of schisty granite and blue basalt, conferring to the wine a nice structure with aromas of red fruits and spice. Tasting note: With a deep cherry color and nut and red fruit aromas, this wine has firm tannins that can be austere in their youth. Can be consumed immediately, but will soften and develop with a few years of ageing. Matures in oak barrels for 12 months, unusual for a Beaujolais.
