2017 vintage – 100% Grenache Noir from slopes on very old schists from the Palaezoic era. Banyuls is an appellation for the unique sweet wines made in an eastern corner of France near its border with Spain. The harvest is made by hand on very ripe fruits. The harvest is destemmed, crushed. Very long maceration, adding pure alcohol to made sure all the aromas and tannins will be extracted. The aging in oak lasts from 16 to 20 months, depending on the years, a part in casks, a part in tuns. The dessert wines of M. Chapoutier are naturally sweet and show full fruit and wonderful character. Nose: powerful, shifting between black fruit and red berries, giving it a lovely freshness, subtly complemented by notes of cocoa. Palate: sumptuous balance between the solar strength of the wine and the fineness of its tannins. It has a great persistency with sweetness which develops greedily.
