The Laherte estate was founded in 1889 by Jean-Baptiste Laherte. At this time, most of the vines were situated in a village known as Chavot. Aurélien Laherte is part of a dynamic, young generation of vignerons making waves in Champagne and producing a fine array of terroir-driven Champagnes using a natural approach to viticulture and winemaking. This edition is of 100% Pinot Meunier from mature vines of the Estate, with 30% Maceration, and 10% red wines. Grapes are picked by hand when fully ripen, and traditionally pressed. Alcoholic fermentation in vats, foudres and barrels. Malolactic fermentation partly made. Ageing on lees for 6 months and light filtration before bottling during the spring time. Lightly fragrant, with floral and ripe pureed raspberry notes and accents of gingersnap biscuit, kumquat and graphite, framed by a chalky mouse and firm, focused acidity.
