Champagne Laherte Freres A Chavot Ultradition Brut, France

The Laherte estate was founded in 1889 by Jean-Baptiste Laherte. At this time, most of the vines were situated in a village known as Chavost. Aurelien Laherte is part of a dynamic, young generation of vignerons making waves in Champagne and producing a fine array of terroir-driven Champagnes using a natural approach to viticulture and winemaking. The Grand Brut Ultradition is a subtle blending of three Champagne varieties and is representative of the terroirs. This Champagne comes from the Coteaux sud d’Epernay, Vallee de la Marne and Cote des Blancs. A fine and complex blending excellent for aperitif. 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir. 40% of which are reserve wines of past years kept in barrels. Alcoholic fermentation in foudres (20%), tanks (20%) and barrels (60%) with regular stirring of the lees. Malolactic fermentation partly made.
