Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Tenuta Nuova 2017, Tuscany, Italy

Tenuta Nuova was born from an innovative vineyard project planted in an area south-east of Montalcino never experienced before and represents the desire to produce a Brunello of great personality: structure, finesse, quantity and quality of tannins, length, drinkability and aging potential. The soil, the microclimate, and the botanical realities typical of the Mediterranean scrub that surround the vineyards are the perfect demonstration of the exceptionality of the terroir of Tenuta Nuova. 100% Sangiovese. Young and bright red. Powerful and complex bouquet, in which all the elements of a generous vintage like 2017 are expressed: fresh white flowers followed by intense and ripe red fruits such as cherry and wild blackberry. On the finish appears inevitable balsamic typical of every New Estate. On the palate it quickly reveals its full, rich and intense character. Even in a Mediterranean vintage like 2017, balance is king. The tannic texture blends perfectly with the acidity giving life to an elegant and persistent finish. An enjoyable vintage right now but that will give surprises in the years to come. Winemaking: Manual selection of the bunches before destemming and selection of the berries with optical selector. This is followed by spontaneous fermentation without the use of added yeasts and maceration assisted by frequent punching down. Everything takes place in truncated conical steel vats at a controlled temperature for 24 days. Ageing period: 30 months in barrels. 18 months in bottle.
