Bogle Vineyards ‘Phantom’ 2019, California

Phantom, the mysterious apparition of ripe berry and relentless spice, returns to haunt wine lovers. This haunting apparition perfectly combines the fierce spice of Zinfandel with the ripe berries of Petite Sirah to create a wine of intensity and concentration. Aromas of baked fruit cobbler and juniper tease while favors of blackberries and peppercorns seduce the senses. Mysterious and mouthfilling, this deeply colored wine is filled with dense fruit and ample tannins, all framed with whispers of nutmeg and allspice after aging for 19 months in American oak. Bogle sources grapes from some of the best vineyards across the state of California. These grapes complement those from their estate vineyards in Clarksburg, Lodi and the Sierra Foothills. To ensure the continued quality of the wines year over year, they work throughout the season with their grower partners. A rating system has been put in place to evaluate each and every vineyard lot and provide feedback to their family of growers. Each block of grapes that enters the winery is vinted separately, allowing for the preservation of its unique character and to monitor the quality of each vineyard.
