Bergevin Lane “Wild Child” Merlot 2016, Walla Walla Valley, Washington

Established in 2002 by two friends pursuing a shared dream. Bergevin Lane Winery nurtures wines that embody the truly unique environment of Walla Walla, Columbia and Yakima Valleys and the distinct single vineyards from where the rich terrestrial wines come from. The northerly latitude provides for an extended growing season with long sunshine filled days balanced by cool evening temperatures. This allows grapes to develop flavor and complexity slowly, while retaining natural acidity. Complex soils composed of loam, silt, loess and cobbles offer perfect drainage. 2016 vintage: Dark Ruby in color with aromas of black cherry, gently toasted oak, purple floral notes , cocoa and vanilla. Medium bodied with crisp acidity and flavors of black cherry, plum dark chocolate, and vanilla. Finishes with lingering soft grain tannins. Aged 18 months in 10% new French oak, 30% new American oak and the balance in neutral oak
