Albert Bichot Chateau-Gris Nuits-Saint-Georges Blanc Les Terrasses Monopole 2020, Burgundy, France

Chateau-Gris is a castle that was built in the 18th century in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the middle of a 3.5-hectare walled vineyard. Its name comes from the grey (gris) color of its slate roof, which is unusual in Burgundy where tiles are predominant. Its terraced vineyard, which is rather rare in Burgundy, is organic certified. It culminates at an altitude of 280 metres. The plots close to the castle are planted with Pinot Noir grapes, while Chardonnay is grown higher up. The vines have an average age of over 40 years. The vineyard’s altitude, steep slope that faces due east, and characteristic clay-limestone soil (Bathonian stage of the Middle Jurassic) provide optimal conditions for yielding fine, elegant wines. Nuits-Saint-Georges “Les Terrasses” – The vines grow in the upper part of our 0.7-hectare plot. White Nuits-Saint-Georges is extremely rare; we are therefore all the more delighted to be able to have you discover this monopole. Floral, honeyed aromas and flavours offer lovely smoothness supported by pleasing tension on the palate. This barrel-aged wine boasts well-integrated oak and a beautiful, lasting finish.
